Who Naomi is
Naomi Aldort is a parenting author, educator and speaker whose work supports parents from pregnancy and infancy through the teenage years and adulthood. She is the author of Raising Our Children, Raising Ourselves (Book Publishers Network, 2006), which has been published in 20 languages, and Listen to Your Baby (Health Communications Inc., 2026).
Her parenting advice columns and articles have been published internationally in magazines including Mothering, Nurture, Pathways, Natural Parent, Juno, Natural Life, Life Learning and The Attached Family of Attachment Parenting International. She has spoken at parenting conferences, universities and events around the world, and she works with families privately through online sessions.
Her approach: connection, not control
Naomi’s guidance is not about finding gentler ways to control a child. It is about how parents can lead without needing control at all: understanding what lies beneath a child’s behavior, noticing their own reactions, and guiding with clarity rather than fear, punishment, bribes or conditional approval. Limits still matter. What changes is how they are held.
At the center of her work is the S.A.L.V.E. communication method, a five-step practice that helps parents pause, separate facts from frightening thoughts, listen, validate and empower the child toward responsibility. It has been described as combining the self-inquiry of The Work of Byron Katie with the listening of Nonviolent Communication.
